Bio Ted Dezember is the Senior Manager for Educational Initiatives and Youth Programs at King County Housing Authority. He is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational policies and program initiatives to support academic and life success of children who live in KCHA’s properties or participate in KCHA’s other housing programs. In this role he leads three housing authority- school district- community cross-sector partnerships in Kent, Bellevue, and White Center, WA, to ensure complimentary learning programs and well-structured out-of-school time programs are available to KCHA children and youth to support in-school educational curricula and strategies. His background is in public education serving as as a high school humanities teacher, middle school Dean of Students, and as an assistant principal in an elementary school. Ted holds degrees in History, Language Arts, and Social Studies education from Washington State University, as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington where he also attended the Danforth Educational Leadership Program at to earn his administrative credential.
