The field of neuroscience continues to offer new insights that can inform efforts to support early literacy. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) – a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn – is an important complement to efforts to advance the science of reading by ensuring those efforts are rooted in the science of teaching and learning. This session will explore the science, the UDL framework, and how it is being applied at the local level in rural, urban, multilingual and high-poverty communities.
