Healthy School Meals for All campaigns work to ensure free school meals are available to all students, regardless of household income. The benefits of free meals for all students are wide-ranging and include supporting academic achievement, reducing the stigma sometimes associated with school meals, advancing equity and eliminating unpaid school meal debt. California and Maine have passed legislation to make free healthy school meals for all a permanent part of the school day. Three states, Vermont, Nevada and Massachusetts, have established free school meals for all for the 2022-2023 school year. Additional states have introduced legislation and more are planning to launch campaigns soon. Join this webinar to learn how your state can start a Healthy School Meals for All campaign. We will cover the main components of building a successful campaign such as coalition building, public education, legislative language, earned media and lobbying. You will hear from state advocates who have worked on successful campaigns and about resources FRAC can provide to get you started.
