Food Fuels Minds: Breaking Down Barriers to SNAP Access for College Students

College students face additional barriers accessing SNAP, a critical program to support them as they pursue higher education. During the COVID-19 federal public health emergency declaration, Congress temporarily expanded SNAP eligibility for some low-income college students. During this time, SNAP became a more accessible program for students nationwide. Since the public health emergency declaration has ended, this expanded eligibility has ended, impacting college students experiencing hunger.
