The COVID-19 pandemic is exposing and widening existing social justice gaps in education broadly and out-of-school time is no exception. Given this unprecedented time, we focus on real-time approaches that afterschool and summer learning programs can use to move the needle on issues of equity and access.
Join us for a webinar with authors from the book Changemakers! Practitioners Advance Access and Equity in Out-of-School Time, as they share how they have adapted their equity-driven practices, presented in the book, and continue to engage youth and families during the pandemic. Rachel Loeper of Mighty Writers in Philadelphia and Andres Henriquez from the New York Hall of Science will discuss how to take outreach and retention strategies in a new direction with a focus on connecting with the most vulnerable families.
They will be joined by Terrance Cauley from Better Family Life, Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri and Diana Noriega of Good Shepherd Services in Brooklyn, New York who will discuss how they respond to the needs of the communities they serve, and how they’ve been engaging with them at this time of crisis.
